After Days Of Debate, Gettysburg Casino Hearing Comes To An End

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

The debate has been going on for months, but this week, pro and anti-gambling groups and individuals had their chance to be heard in a public forum. The debate has to do with a proposed casino at Gettysburg.

Just the mention of the word casino in the same sentence as Gettysburg has some people outraged in Pennsylvania. The Gaming Control Board held a public hearing for the past two days for everyone to have their opinions heard, and those residents showed up in the hundreds.

Over 400 people signed up to give their opinion on the issue. On one hand, the casino had the support of a prominent preservation group. On the other hand, many other preservationists were against the casino plan.

The hearing had so many looking to speak, that the Gaming Board placed people with the same opinions into groups, and allowed them to voice their concerns together. The second day of the hearings went much smoother than the first, although both were long days.

The casino supporters believe that the hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars that would be created and generated with the casino, could help improve the local economy. The anti-casino groups claim that the figures of how much will be generated are inflated. The two stances are common no matter where a casino proposal arises in the US.

In recent years, Pennsylvania has become one of the dominating states when it comes to the casino gambling industry. One license remains to be given out in the state, and the Gettysburg location is one of a few that is getting serious consideration from the Gaming Board.
